The Quilting Season
Volunteer Opportunities

Would you like to use your sewing skills to comfort
others in your community? Here are some ways to
help others, and have a lot of fun at the same time.
Pillowcases:

As of July 2011, we've donated 2,540 pillowcases
to children and young adults who are hospitalized at the
C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

We provide free pillowcase kits at the store. Come get some! Take
as many as you think you can handle. When they're ready, bring
them back to the store.

free pillowcase pattern.

We're also registered with the APQ
1 Million Pillowcase Challenge,
where you can find
more free pillowcase patterns.
Preemie Quilts:

We collect preemie quilts for
St. Joseph Natal Intensive Care Unit in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Download our
guidelines poster.

Guidelines:
* Use 100% cotton fabric, batting and thread.
* Size: approximately 16" x 20"
* Use an orphaned quilt block or experiment with scraps.
* Don't worry about it being perfect! The babies won't care.
After you make
your pillowcase...

* Wash without fabric
softener.

* Iron it (to sanitize).

* Put in quart size
zipper baggie. Re-use
bag if you received a kit
from the store.
